Today's ID video is special to me, because I am finally reunited with one of my first ever flower crushes. Today we take a look at the elegant and magnificent Echinopsis eyriesii cactus in bloom. • ▼▼▼More info bellow!▼▼▼ • Native to South America, the Echinopsis eyriesii cactus has a globe like shape and is sometimes called the sea urchin cactus. Thorns run across its ridges, protecting it from predators. It's best to not touch this cactus with your bare hands, but admire from a distance. Overall there is nothing spectacular about him really and nothing can prepare you for the fabulous blooms he will reward you with, if you treat him right. • The beautiful trumpet like flower extends from one of the nodes for about 20 cm and opens a rosette measuring about 16 cm across. there are multiple petals that make up the flower and the back petals have a soft pink hue, while the front petals remain pure white. The petals are arranged in multiple layers and each seems to have a different shade from the other. Inside, the stamens are arranged in layers as well, while the pistil is longer and has a star shaped tip. • This flower is extraordinarily fragrant and there is no smell to better suit it than the one it already has. It is clean and soft, almost like a sophisticated and delicate perfume. It isn't too faint either and filming this flower up close gave me a good dose of it. For those of you who are orchid collectors, the scent of the Brassavola will describe it the best, although a lot more delicate and powdery. • All you need to do is look at those unfriendly, maybe unappealing balls of thorns you find for sale at your garden center or flower shop. Chose one and take a leap of faith.
