Those of my generation may well remember this magnificent tune, which featured as the main theme of the prestigious BBC television series The Onedin Line . It was not until much later that I learnt the piece was by Aram Khachaturian, the center piece from his ballet Spartacus . • A couple of months ago I discovered (thanks to the great pianist Cyprien Katsaris) that there existed a piano version, apparently penned by a nephew of the composer.
