This video shows before and after jaw distraction surgery examples using the revolutionary surgery of IMDO. The video was complied by Paul Coceancig, an oral maxillofacial surgeon based in Sydney, Australia. • Dental overbite is a feature of a small lower jaw. Dental overbite is not caused by having too many upper teeth, or having too big an upper jaw. The treatment of IMDO recognizes that the lower jaw is small both in breadth, length, and height, and aims to make the lower jaw bigger in all 3 dimensions, whilst also creating dental arch length to enable the orthodontist to also align teeth using braces. • There are many features of having a small lower jaw, including, restricted airway and snoring, prominent buck teeth, social awkwardness, headaches with chronic jaw posturing, and lack of chin. In a simple procedure lasting about 1 hour, distractors are placed to the lower jaw, enabling home 3D-growth (under medical supervision by the surgeon) of the mandible over 10-14 days. The distractors are removed 4-6 weeks later, and braces can be placed to help further align teeth. • Always ask your surgeon about your personal surgical and orthodontic needs before deciding upon the correct treatment choice for you. • To find out more, visit us at: • http://www.profilosurgical.com.au/fac... • http://www.profilosurgical.com.au/
