What are those Funky Tires on New Kubota and LS Tractors

Walking around the National Farm Machinery Show you notice some of the new tractors have a different tire on them. It looks a little like an R-4 industrial tire but it has lugs on the outside that look like an R-1 agricultural or ag tire. What is it? • Turns out, the folks at Goodyear/Titan have taken the best characteristics of the R-4 tire, the wide footprint, and mated that with the aggressive lugs of the R-1 tire to get a hybrid they're calling the R-14 (R-1 and R-4 together). In this video we look at the advantages of this new tire. • In large part, this tire was developed so customers who owned a tractor with agricultural tires that wanted a wider footprint, could buy new tires to fit the ag rims. Before they had to change both the tires and the rims to get a less aggressive footprint. • If you ever attempt a tire type change on your 4wd tractor, you need to put the same sized tire back on it that came off of it. Otherwise, when engaged in four wheel drive, the front wheels can be working against the back wheels and causing premature driveline wear. • Some Kubota and LS tractors are now coming from the factory with R-14's and they look good and should function well in both field and turf conditions. I'd bet we'll be seeing more of them on tractors going forward. • LINKS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT... • The Tractor Fun Store: https://asktractormike.com/products-f... • Support the Tractor Mike Channel: / tractormike • Visit the Tractor Mike website: http://asktractormike.com/ • Visit Facebook Page: / ask-tractor-mike-312112962245304 • • Copyright 2020 Tractor Mike LLC
