This lamp is also known as Check Engine Light or Service Engine Soon . • What happens is that there are vehicles in which the PCM voltage is too high or too low. There may even be no voltage present. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controls the lamp when it monitors the lamp ground circuit and checks the voltage on that ground circuit. • It is worth mentioning that the normal activity of the malfunction indicator lamp is that it lights up for a second, then goes out when the engine is started or when the car is started. • Symptoms of fault code P0650 Generic • 1-Malfunction indicator light does not come on when it should. • 2-Check Engine Light on all the time. • Causes of the OBD2 code P0650 Generic • 1-When the P0650 OBD2 trouble code is set it means that one or more of the following has occurred: • 2-The bulb or led of the MIL light may be burned out. • MIL light leads may be faulty, causing a short. • First of all, you should check if the bulb turns on when it should. Remember that it should come on for a few seconds when the vehicle is started. If it lights for seconds and then goes off, the bulb is in good condition. • • If the MIL does not light at all, check the source of the problem. With an automotive scanner, turn the MIL light on and off. • • 1-Check if the bulb is burned out. If so, change it. Also, check that the light bulb connection is correct. Verify that all cables and connectors going to the MIL lamp to the PCM are in good condition. • Repair or change. • 2-Check if other items in the instrument cluster are working properly. Namely, warning lights, indicators and others. • 3-Remove the cluster, and in case your vehicle has a fuse, check that it is in good condition. Change it if necessary. • 4-Use a digital voltmeter to check the corresponding wires from the lamp's external circuit to the PCM. Verify its proper functioning. Repair or change if you find problems.
