📍Save this post to reference later! After 3 years going to Yosemite National Park to see the famous Firefall, we're sharing the tips we've learned over the years. • 1️⃣ Firefall occurs every year for about 2-3 weeks from mid to late February. This is when the light of sunset hits Horsetail Falls just right causing the waterfall to illuminate like fire! 😍 • 2️⃣ Reservations are required to enter the park during all 3 weekends of Firefall. For 2024, reservations were released on [Recreation.gov](http://Recreation.gov) on December 1st, 2023 at 8:00am PT. *Make sure to check the [nps.gov](http://nps.gov) website in advance in case this date changes for future years. • 3️⃣ Reservations sell out quickly! So make an account on [Recreation.gov](http://Recreation.gov) ahead of time and set an alarm BEFORE the release time so you can be logged in and ready. • 4️⃣ Get to the viewing area early to secure a good spot! There are tons of trees blocking the view of Horsetail Falls so the best spots get taken right away. It will get crowded so go early. (We usually aim for 3:30-4pm on weekends.) • 5️⃣ Bring chairs! Since you will be waiting for a long time it is a lifesaver to have a comfy spot to sit. • 6️⃣ Bring extra warm layers – it's winter in Yosemite and you will get cold waiting for sunset! • 7️⃣ Bring snacks and drinks. Since this is right before dinner time I always get snacky while I wait. But keep in mind – the only nearby restrooms are porta potties. • 8️⃣ Bring a headlamp or flashlight for your walk back in the dark. You can get by with the headlights of cars leaving, but it's safer to have your own light. • 🎥Watch our full Firefall video on our channel for more detailed tips to help you plan your own trip to see Firefall! 🔥 • #firefall #yosemite #travel #shorts
