John E. Blakleley's 'Mancunian Film Corporation' was well known for releasing the knockabout comedies starring the likes of Sandy Powell, Norman Evans, Nat Jackley and the great Frank Randle. The last film to come out of Blakeley's Manchester Studio was Randle's 'It's a Grand Life' in 1953. However, the company continued to make films out of London studios and their next production was the comic farce 'Trouble with Eve'. Based on a typical stage farce Widows Are Dangerous by June Garland, the film has all the usual customs associated with such a presentation - Robert Urquhart loses his trousers in the first few minutes. Others appearing include Hy Hazell, Vera Day and Gary Marsh. This YouTube offering is a six minute extract from this now largely forgotten film. Produced by Tom Blakeley with John E Blakeley as Associate Producer. Directed by Francis Searle. http://www.hoydpublishing.co.uk
