Deconstructing All My Loving The Beatles Isolated Tracks

All My Loving was written sometime in April 1963, and as Paul said in his book The Lyrics, It's probably more of a reflection on what our lives were like then—leaving behind family and friends to go on tour and experience all these new adventures. What makes All My Loving particularly interesting is that Paul wrote the lyrics first before composing the music. Some parts of the melody may have been inspired by Kathy's Waltz. • The song was recorded for The Beatles' second album, With The Beatles, on July 30th. It was recorded late in the evening, following a long session, at around 10 PM. The famous triplet rhythm guitar part played by John was a last-minute addition. As Paul states in The Lyrics, He's playing the chords as triplets. That was a last-minute idea, and it transforms the whole thing, giving it momentum... But it was often like that when we were recording. One of us would come up with that little magic thing. It allowed the song to become what it needed to be. • The band ran through 11 takes of the song, with the final take being deemed the best. Since Paul wanted to double-track his vocals, the engineers bounced the mix down to free up an additional track. Paul then recorded his double-tracked vocals, along with his harmony vocals throughout the song and on the third verse. At some point, George presumably recorded his guitar solo. With that, the song was complete and ready for mixing. • There some contention about which guitars were used for the recording. There's a great episode of the Gear, There and Everywhere podcast here:    • What Guitars are used on the Beatles'...   that makes a great case for the J-160e being the guitar used. • I hadn't originally planned to make an isolation video for All My Loving, but after finishing my mix of the song, I noticed a lot of great details. Some of the stems are a little rough, particularly in the separation of the double-tracked vocals, but for the most part, they're intact. I've also isolated Paul and George's vocals heard live. • Consider supporting me on Patreon and get access to Beatle stems:   / isolatedstems   • Thanks to my current Patreons: Mixmad, moondog, Jonathan Raleigh, Juan Herandez, pinocchio, Francisco Emmanuel, Tajdar Junaid, Kevin McGrath, Facundo, Simo, and Grant. • Subscribe for more! • ------------------------------------------------------------------------ • Drums (0:00) • Bass (2:05) • Original Vocal Take (4:10) • Harmony/Overdubbed Vocals (6:03) • George's Live Vocal (7:57) • Paul's Live Vocal (8:21) • Combined Live Vocal (8:45) • George's Acoustic Guitar (9:08) • Guitar Solo (11:13) • John's Rhythm Guitar (11:25) • Instrumental (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aXP2...) • ------------------------------------------------------------------------ • Paul McCartney - Lead and Harmony Vocals, Bass Guitar (1961 Hofner 500/1) • John Lennon - Rhythm Guitar (1962 Gibson J-160e or 1958 Rickenbacker 325), Backing Vocals • George Harrison - Acoustic Guitar (Ramirez Classical Guitar), Lead Guitar Solo (1962 Gibson J-160e or 1962 Gretsch 6122 Country Gentleman), Backing Vocals • Ringo Starr - Drums (1963 Ludwig Downbeat Black Oyster Pearl) • #thebeatles #paulmccartney #georgeharrison #johnlennon #ringostarr #allmyloving #withthebeatles
