It can convert a point's coordinates from the composition's coordinate system to a layer's own coordinate system. In other words, it's telling After Effects: Hey, don't treat the whole composition as the reference for this null's position. Instead, treat this specific layer (with the corner pin) as the reference. • When you apply the fromCompToSurface() expression to the null's position, you're making the null understand the layer's corner pin coordinates as if they were in the same language or coordinate system. • When you whip the null's position to a corner pin on the layer, the null doesn't jump somewhere random. It perfectly aligns with the corner pin because both use the same reference for their position—the layer's coordinate system. • In summary, the fromCompToSurface() expression is a workaround to ensure that null objects and corner pins speak the same language regarding their position coordinates. This ensures that the nulls follow the corner pins correctly without any unexpected jumps or misalignments. • • • And In case you would like to support this channel! here's my • My Buy me a Coffee Page https://bit.ly/3pnEDyt • • 😎 Let's connect :) • Instagram: / masd.lab • Dribbble: https://dribbble.com/marcosmasd • Tiktok: / marcosmasd
