Quirky Customs - The Glöckler run challenge. Spirits Chase: Every winter so-called Glöcklerlauf marches take place in the Austrian Salzkammergut region. Chasing Away Evil Winter Spirits in Europe. It's an ancient tradition where men dressed all in white wear ringing bells and illuminated paper caps up to two metres high on their head - weighing up to 20 kg. They supposedly scare away evil winter spirits. Euromaxx reporter Max Merrill joines the most famous and spectacular Glöcklerlauf in Ebensee.
