The Refreshed 2024 Kia Sorento Remains a Well-Rounded Family Hauler • The 2024 Kia Sorento has received a mid-cycle refresh that keeps this capable three-row SUV in fighting shape to battle it out in the competitive mid-size crossover segment. While it may live in the shadow of its larger Telluride sibling, the Sorento brings a lot to the table with its just-right size, comfortable cabin, and quartet of powertrain options including two hybrid choices. • For 2024, Kia has made some tasteful exterior tweaks to the front and rear fascias to keep the Sorento looking fresh. The grille gets a new design and the taillights have been updated as well. New wheel designs round out the changes to the sheetmetal. Open a door and the enhancements continue, with an updated dashboard featuring a slick curved dual-display setup. The standard arrangement pairs a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with a 4.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Higher trims swap the gauges for a matching 12.3-inch screen. • Under the hood, the Sorento soldiers on with two engine choices: a base 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder or an optional turbocharged version with a healthier 281 hp. Both are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels, with all-wheel drive optional. The Sorento hybrid models (reviewed separately) use a six-speed automatic instead. • On the road, the boosted engine provides adequate thrust but it doesn't exactly pin you to your seat when you stomp the accelerator. Handling is composed and the ride quality is pleasantly smooth and quiet, just what you want in a family vehicle. Those looking for a little more adventurous capability can opt for the new X-Pro trim which comes standard with the turbo, a locking center differential, 17-inch wheels, and knobby all-terrain tires. • Inside, the Sorento is a welcoming place for passengers with attractive styling, nice materials, and solid build quality. As with most mid-size three-rows, the back seats are really only suitable for kids but they'll come in handy in a pinch. Cargo space also trails the Telluride, a tradeoff for the Sorento's tidier dimensions. But there's still plenty of room for hauling everyday gear and the cabin is littered with handy cubbies and cupholders. A host of available features add convenience and luxury like the crisp-sounding Bose audio system, a rear-seat entertainment setup, and a wireless charging pad. • From a technology standpoint, the Sorento is impressively equipped. The new panoramic display is easy on the eyes and packs wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while driver assists like automated emergency braking, lane keeping, and adaptive cruise control provide peace of mind. Kia's industry-leading 5-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty is the icing on the cake. • While the 2024 Kia Sorento may not top its class in any one area, its well-balanced mix of style, features, and overall competence make it a solid pick for families seeking a right-sized SUV. With a starting price of $33,365 stretching to nearly $49K for a loaded X-Pro model, there's a Sorento to suit a range of tastes and budgets. It's a worthy alternative to the larger Telluride that won't leave you feeling shortchanged. • • #KiaSorento2024 • #KiaSorento • #KiaSorentofirstlook • #KiaSorento2024exterior • #KiaSorento2024interior • #KiaSorentowalkaround • #KiaSorentodetails • #KiaSorentonew • • ➡️ Discover all new cars before anyone else!
