As we join the global conversation around World Mental Health Day 2024, themed “Mental Health at Work,” Synergy Marine Group reaffirms its commitment to the wellbeing of the global seafaring workforce. Life at sea brings unique challenges, making our seafarers’ mental health a top priority. • This year, we’re proud to highlight the camaraderie and support that define life onboard. A touching example is from GS Ajith Venugopal, whose video, “Hope of Life,” was the runner-up in our recent fleetwide contest. Filmed aboard the OKEE JOHN T, the video offers a reflective personal narrative on the realised value of home, family, and crew support, illustrating the power of human connection in overcoming life’s challenges. • At Synergy, our Wellbeing Champions initiative continues to grow. Over 1,700 crew and shore-based employees have been trained in mental health awareness, peer support, and psychological first aid. These champions play a vital role in ensuring psychological safety across our vessels and offices. • We also extend support through pioneering initiatives like our multilingual helpline, iCall, which we launched in 2018. Now known as WeTeam, this much-evolved service provides free, 24/7, and completely confidential psychological support to seafarers, shore-based maritime professionals, and their families worldwide.
