The movie tells of the famous conductor Daniel Dareus, who returns after many years to his Swedish home village to physically and mentally recover from a heart attack. He takes over the church choir and is confronted with the joys and sorrows of the diverse choir members. With his commitment and music he manages to help those people and also finds new meaning in his own life. • “Gabriellas Sång” is the song of one villager who seeks refuge in the choir from her violent husband.
