For coaching or therapy with me, please email me at: [email protected] • In last week's video, we discussed 5 steps to work through family enmeshment. In this video, I wanted to share with you 7 life skills I believe are essential in the process of overcoming enmeshment through self-differentiation work. • Those skills are: • 1. Systems Thinking: Especially through family systems theory. • 2. Emotional Grounding/Self-Regulation: Especially amongst the systems anxiety. • 3. Mental Autonomy: Or the ability to think for yourself and challenge family beliefs. • 4. Internal Validation: Or the ability to let go of the need for external approval. • 5. Boundaries: Or the ability to set and enforce limits with meaningful others. • 6. Distress Tolerance: Or enduring the emotional discomfort necessary for self-differentiation. • 7. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F: Or the ability choose what to ignore and what to pay attention to. • Resources Mentioned: • The Subtle Art by Mark Manson: https://bookshop.org/a/14132/97800624... • Set Boundaries, Find Peace by Nedra Tawaab: https://bookshop.org/a/14132/97805931... • Join my free monthly Q+As: https://www.deborahlara.com/subscribe • Coaching with me: https://www.deborahlara.com/coaching
