Elance review by VirtualAssistantAssistant.com. • Elance is one of the leading freelance marketplaces, and it's where I've personally had the best luck in finding long-term virtual assistant hires. • It's kind of weird, since they're primarily known for project-based work. In each of the 2 long-term VA hires, I kind of took a chance on someone who impressed me with their cover letter and interview, but didn't have a lot of feedback on the platform. • That's always a risk, and some people would advise against even considering a candidate without a 4.5 star rating and dozens of completed jobs. I understand where they're coming from, but even outside those couple hires I've had good luck with people with limited feedback ratings. Often, you'll find new freelancers who are bidding far below their normal rate in an effort to build out their profile. • And the feedback system is subject to some serious grade inflation. Everyone has an incentive to say nice things, and I feel like when things don't go exceedingly well, there's a tendency just to not say anything at all. • Either way, I continue to use Elance for outsourcing projects as needed.
