A ruptured eardrum, also known as a perforated tympanic membrane, is a tear or hole in the thin tissue that separates your ear canal from your middle ear (the eardrum). • Ruptured eardrums can be caused by a variety of factors, including: • Ear infections: When the middle ear is infected, • fluid can accumulate and put pressure on the eardrum. If the pressure • becomes too high, it can cause the eardrum to rupture. • Trauma to the ear: This could be due to a direct • blow to the ear, a sudden explosion of air pressure (barotrauma), or • inserting objects like cotton swabs or hairpins too far into the ear • canal. • Sudden changes in pressure: These can occur during airplane ascents and descents or scuba diving, for example. • Loud sounds or blasts (acoustic trauma): Very loud noises can cause the eardrum to rupture. • Symptoms of a ruptured eardrum may include: • Ear pain that may subside quickly • Mucus or pus-like drainage from the ear • Hearing loss • Ringing in the ear (tinnitus) • Spinning sensation (vertigo) • Nausea or vomiting that can result from vertigo • If a ruptured eardrum is suspected, a doctor can usually diagnose it using an otoscope to look in the ear. In some cases, a hearing test may also be done. • Most ruptured eardrums heal without treatment within a few weeks, although your doctor may prescribe antibiotics to prevent or treat an infection. In some cases, if the tear or hole in the eardrum doesn't heal by itself, a procedure or surgical repair (tympanoplasty) may be necessary. • It is important to protect your ear from water and loud noises during the healing process. You should also avoid blowing your nose as the pressure created can disrupt healing. • #RupturedEardrums #EarInjury #EarHealth #Animation #3DAnimation #EarCare #HealthEducation #InjuryAwareness #EarAnatomy #AnimatedVideo #MedicalAnimation #EardrumDamage #HealthTips #EarSafety #VisualEducation #EarProtection #HealthAwareness #AnatomyExplained #StopEarDamage #EducationalVideo
