Chapter 10: Breaking and Entering • Now at the Vault's doorstep, Alyx climbs the tower containing the emergency backup keeping it in the air. She manages to disable it, albeit causing the Vault to dramatically crash-land at the same time. Emerging from the rubble, she must navigate the ruins of a destroyed parking garage and contend with one of the Combine's most deadliest assault synths in order to enter the Vault itself. • Playlist with all completed chapters: • • Half-Life: Alyx - Full Playthrough [H... • Notes: • It is possible to enter the vent at 7:52 in true Gordon Freeman fashion, although to do so the player would need to physically crawl in (movement using the controllers won't work). At the end, there is a headcrab and 1 resin • I used the Fabricator at 9:28 and obtained the Reflex Sight for the SMG for completion's sake, though I hardly ever use it because the laser sight is a much better alternative • As far as I know, there is no actual way to successfully dock the Vault to the bridge (22:53) • It's not necessary to kill the Combine soldiers at 36:40, Alyx can just ignore them and proceed onwards • For some reason Russell does not say anything when Alyx gets on the grenade launcher at 38:55 in my save. He typically shouts encouragement at Alyx as she guns down the Strider • The Strider will eventually use its warp cannon against Alyx if she doesn't kill it with the grenade launcher fast enough • Trivia: • The track that plays at 1:45 also played in HL2 during the chapter Route Kanal, under the name Zero Point Energy Field • The Antlion Nest seen in the trainyard at 18:34 is the same one that Alyx travels through in the previous chapter • The Strider that wakes up at 31:47 seems to be injured already, as evident by the damage on its carapace. It also gets set on fire after using its warp cannon at 36:32 • The Strider in this game is seen being much more resourceful than in previous titles. It clears a hole with its head to get a better shot at Alyx at 33:23, and uses its legs to break the wall at 38:09 • The Combine Captain at 33:53 will play a specific stumble animation off the hood of the car if shot while on it • The Strider's warp cannon sounds much different than in previous titles (36:26). It also doesn't distort the area around its cannon before firing anymore • 40:43 - just like in HL2's penultimate chapter (Our Benefactors), Alyx loses all her weapons with the exception of the Gravity Gloves (whereas Gordon keeps his Gravity Gun) • Eli's cut-off warning to Alyx at 41:00 mirrors a similar moment in HL2 when Eli warns Alyx not to let Gordon through to Ravenholm
