This video showcases all of the 19 level crossings that are on the Frankston line in the south eastern area of Melbourne. This video shows crossings that are still there as of December 2020 and dose not include crossings that were removed before that date. Footage all take by myself at various times and places between May and December 2020. The crossings that I have used footage from May for haven’t changed or have had very minor changes to the surroundings of the crossings but not to the acutual equipment. All of the crossings on the frankston line have e bells. • Nerrim Road, Glen Huntly. A nice crossing located on a pretty busy road in Melbourne’s south east. Boom gates installed here in 1986 and features a mostly Westinghouse setup. The crossing here is listed for removal. No main video yet. • Glen Huntly Road, Glen Huntly. One of 3 tramsquare crossings in Melbourne where trams and trains cross paths at the same level. Located in the main area of Glen Huntly it is very busy and activations are longer due to it being a tramsquare. Gated signals installed in 1986. This crossing is listed for removal. No main video yet. • Wickham/Worthing roads, Highett. A very nice crossing on a somewhat quiet road. Sees not too much traffic and is in a great location. The crossing is also a roundabout. Gated signals installed in 1980. The setup has a mixture of incandescent and LED lights from both Westinghouse and Mck h. No removal here. New main video coming soon! • Highett road Highett. Despite being very busy in the main area of Highett there is no removal happening here. Not a very interesting setup as most of the original equipment has been replaced. Gated signals installed in 1985. Footage filmed: December, 2020. No main video yet. • Latrobe Street, Cheltenham. This crossing is very nice and on a pretty quiet road. This crossing wasn’t removed with the LXRA works in the area and still holds some nice old WRRS and Mck h gate mechanisms. The signals were installed in 1965. No main video yet. • Warrigal Road, Mentone. The site of the first FL signals in Victoria although replaced years ago. This crossing sees quiet a bit of traffic however there isn’t a removal happening here. Gated signals installed in 1983 with some very old Mck h marked lights (one of 2 crossings in Victoria to have these lights) which date from the 1950s.. Main video: • Video • Parkers Road Parkdale, located in the main area of the suburb right next to the station does see a lot of traffic however no removal is happening.
