Amarillo, TX is a small town filled with big attractions! To kick off our tour along route 66 adventure we bring you top 3 attractions and things to do route 66 in Amarillo, Texas. These are some of the TOP things to do in Amarillo Texas. • Amarillo is probably most famous for its big 72 oz steak. The Big Texan Steak Ranch became well known for its 72 oz steak challenge. We didn't take up the challenge mainly because even the two of us couldn't finish that much food. We decided to check out the facility though which contains more than just the restaurant itself. • Not just that, but just about 45 minutes away from the town is Palo Duro Canyon State Park which is the 2nd largest canyon in the country! This canyon boasts its rock layers, an amphitheater, and plenty of thinking trails to take it its sweeping views and vistas. Palo Duro Canyon's most popular trail would be the lighthouse trail which features a unique lighthouse formation. This also makes for soem really cool top places to visit in Amarilo Texas. • Lastly, Amarillo's art installation (aka Cadillac Ranch) is well worth the trip. Bring your own can of spray paint and spray away. Cadillac Ranch displays 10 Cadillacs dug into the ground and has become popular among tourists to interact and spray paint the sides of them.
