If there’s one thing that dungeon crawlers love, it’s puzzles. Combat is all well and good, but they truly shine when presenting an obstacle you can’t battle through. There are many ways this is achieved; finding concealed buttons and switches, uncovering illusionary walls and hidden doors, pressure plates and levers as well as the ubiquitous pits. These can be used by themselves or in tandem and while you are often given a hint on how to solve the conundrum, sometimes you’re not. • The puzzles provide a great change of pace in the Eye of the Beholder trilogy, though they’ve been far from merciful in the previous two entries. Westwood wasn’t afraid to put unforgiving challenges before you that you’re likely to fail at the first time purely because you didn’t know what was going to happen. While you could survive most of them, there were a few traps that spelled doom if you accidentally stumbled upon them, something I’m keeping in mind as the party explores here. The last thing I want is for their adventure to end before it has really begun. • Twitter:   / kikoskia   • Patreon:   / kikoskia   • Discord: https://discordapp.com/invite/X2YUmPh
