Probotector AKA Operation C AKA Contra • Rating: 3.5 / 5 • Best game in the collection easily, color job wasn't great though. Wasn't sure if I liked the area select cuz it cheapens the game by making it easier but then I remembered this is a portable device so being able to pick up and play or stop is good. I feel like it would make more sense if Castlevania, a slower game, had an area select but nope it doesn't. But this area select meant I had to actually learn how to fight the final boss since in my full run of the GB version, I just tanked the hits while barely dodging his attacks. • Castlevania the Adventure • Personal rating: 2 / 5 • You know what, it's an improvement over the original GB version that I gave a 1 / 5 back in the day. The game isn't as dreadfully slow, and better hints you to its bullshit secrets like the invisible passageway and rope by hinting with color change. Would I have known to look there because of this change? Probably not. This game is pretty bullshit and evil, and doesn't include things like sub-weapons which are essential to Castevania, the enemies and their respawning is awful, the whip upgrades are executed horribly since if you get hit once you lose your upgrade. The candles in this game are basically useless because without sub-weapons they just contain points... most candles are just there to trick you. The controls are also very bad and sometimes I felt as though my inputs didn't register at all! I ended up actually liking the final boss fight this time around though. If you know the bullshit to watch out for or the bullshit secrets it makes this game more enjoyable, but I think the original Game Boy version can't be praised that much due to how slow it is... original version I think is still my least favorite Castlevania game period.
