Launched in 1996 and becoming increasingly rare nowadays is this early R170 SLK with just 2 owners and 20,000 miles from new. Finished in pleasing Linarit Blue metallic paintwork, the trim, unusually, is anthracite cloth which definately has stood the test of time better than leather. Fitted with the 4 cylinder M973 190PS supercharged engine and automatic transmission, performance was brisk for the day with 0-60mph taking 7.4 seconds on the way to a top speed of 143mph. • The specification is generous with air conditioning, cruise control and the original Mercedes Audio 10 radio cassette being fitted but we all know the biggest feature of all is the steel folding vario roof which fully retracts in less than half a minute - this design of over 25 years ago is still superb today. • Unusually, our car has no corrosion and is a credit to both of its private owners who have owned the car for over 11 years each.
