Read our review of Prepar3D v5 here: • https://flyawaysimulation.com/news/4960/ • We have published this video to archive a piece of history. • This is the official launch/release trailer for Lockheed Martin's Prepar3D version 5 (P3D v5) released on April 20th, 2020. There was a previous teaser trailer released by LM (and also published by FSElite) just before the P3D v5 release but this is the final (official) trailer released. • Prepar3D is a flight, sea, and whole-world simulator released by Lockheed Martin for at-home, professional, and commercial/military use. • Many users of FSX have moved to Prepar3D mainly because it's based on Microsoft's ESP platform and allows support of existing add-ons including aircraft, scenery, and utilities that were previously designed and supported on Microsoft Flight Simulator X (which was also based on that platform). • Pretty much, any freeware or payware add-ons created for FSX SP2 and onwards works with P3Dv4 and P3Dv5 (with a few nuances). • Prepar3D v5 brings some amazing (new) things to the existing engine including full support and utilization of DirectX 12, a greatly improved weather and cloud system closely reflecting Microsoft's revamp of FS (FS2020). Also improved is a brand new SDK, a greatly improved sea/ocean scene that includes more advanced waves and swells which is perfect for at-sea missions. • Prepar3D will always be close to our legacy flight sim users' hearts (and ours - we are sticking with P3D) as (essentially) it's based on FSX. While based on FSX, it has been upgraded to be a next-gen flight simulator that's capable of being compatible with the latest hardware (yes you'll need some decent video memory (VM) to run v5) and makes those elderly FSX add-ons look stunning. • At Fly Away Simulation, we've got an entire category dedicated to freeware add-ons for Prepar3D v5 which you can find here: • https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloa... • Wait... you don't have v5 yet? Perhaps you don't want to place all of your bets on Microsoft's new flight simulator and you want to stay true to what you know? If so, you can purchase the latest P3D version here: • https://www.prepar3d.com/prepar3d-store/ • However, if you are interested in reading up on Microsoft's new 2020 simulator, you can read our full analysis here: • https://flyawaysimulation.com/news/4953/ • The original trailer video released by Lockheed Martin was 4K@30FPS. We used special AI (artificial intelligence) software to upscale this video to 8K@60FPS. This is not a simple resolution change, this is full-on AI upscaling with attention to detail and this video does look fabulous at 8K if your system can handle it. • #prepar3dv5 #p3dv5 #prepar3d #flightsim #flyawaysimulation
