During the Victorian era, hygiene was considered extremely important, particularly among the middle and upper classes. People believed that cleanliness was a sign of morality and good character, and this was reflected in their daily habits. • Personal hygiene practices, such as bathing and washing hands, were considered essential for maintaining health and preventing the spread of disease. Soap and water were the primary tools used for cleaning, and many people also used various kinds of perfumes and cosmetics to mask body odour. • In addition to personal hygiene, cleanliness in the home and public spaces was also emphasized, leading to improvements in sanitation and waste management practices.
