The process of mitosis is critical to all eukaryotic organisms. • In some single-celled organisms, such as protozoans and • some fungi and algae, mitosis (as a part of cell division) provides • the basis for asexual reproduction. • Stages of Mitosis • Prophase of Mitosis: During prophase, the complex of DNA and proteins contained in the nucleus, known as chromatin, condenses into chromosome. • Metaphase of Mitosis: During metaphase, the nucleus dissolves and the cell's chromosomes condense and move together, aligning in the center of the dividing cell. • Anaphase of Mitosis: During anaphase, each pair of chromosomes is separated into two identical, independent chromosomes. The chromosomes are separated by a structure called the mitotic spindle. • Telophase of Mitosis: During telophase, the chromosomes arrive at the cell poles, the mitotic spindle disassembles, and the vesicles that contain fragments of the original nuclear membrane assemble around the two sets of chromosomes. • Cytokinesis: After completion of Mitosis, Cell cycle continues and The process of Cytokinesis starts in which Cytoplasm of cell divides into two. • #cellcycle #cellcycleandcelldivisionclass11 #cellcycleandmitosis
