Pedilanthus tithymaloides, pokok lelipan, pokok lipan, Jaccobs Ladder, Slipper Plant, Zig Zag Plant, DEVILS BACKBONE or Euphorbia tithymaloides is a succulent, perennial shrub widely cultivated as an ornamental plant. Native to the Americas, this species has been introduced in Africa, Asia and Oceania, occurring on rocky soils in dry, sunny habitats such as hillsides, wastelands and roadsides. Currently it is listed as invasive in New Caledonia, Wake Island, the British Indian Ocean Territory and Cuba. Despite being classified as high risk in the Hawaii-Pacific Weed Risk Assessment, its environmental impact on native species and habitats is unknown. • #Dlium_Pokok lipan or devil's-backbone or redbird flower or christmas candle or Pedilanthus tithymaloides (Euphorbia tithymaloides) are plant species in Euphorbiaceae, upright, evergreen, gummy shrubs, growing in tropical and subtropical regions. Euphorbia tithymaloides is a perennial succulent spurge. An erect shrub, the plant is also known by the scientific name Pedilanthus tithymaloides. However, the genus Pedilanthus has been submerged into the genus Euphorbia, and is more correctly known by its new name (Euphorbia tithymaloides). • Euphorbia tithymaloides has a large number of household names used by gardeners and the public. Among them are redbird flower, devil's-backbone, redbird cactus, Jewbush, buck-thorn, cimora misha, Christmas candle, fiddle flower, ipecacuahana, Jacob's ladder, Japanese poinsettia, Jew's slipper, milk-hedge, myrtle-leaved spurge, Padus-leaved clipper plant, red slipper spurge, slipper flower, slipper plant, slipper spurge, timora misha, and zig-zag plant. It is a relatively mild toxic Euphorbia for us our fur babies but it is also used (don't try this at home kids) as a medicinal plant throughout The Greater Antilles. My Grandma who was a herbalist and medicine woman taught me how to use this plant to treat many things. Ailments ranging from fungal infections of the skin to treatment for some ingested poisons as it is an emetic when ingested as a tea. • How to Propagate Divide Devils Backbone • The stem has the tip of a handle that supports a group of flowers that are not scented.
