Russia said on Wednesday it had captured two more villages in Ukraine and was attacking in the town of Vuhledar, a longtime Ukrainian stronghold. Those reported gains come despite a Ukrainian incursion into Russian soil, designed to divert Russian troops. The attack on the Kursk region is the first assault on Russian territory by a foreign army since World War II. FRANCE 24’s Senior Reporter Catherine Norris Trent was one of a small number of journalists recently able to travel to Kyiv-controlled parts of Kursk, embedded with the Ukrainian army.
