But I’m going to highlight just 4 of the most common approaches to workplace conflict resolution. First would be simply allowing employees to work out a conflict on their own. But this means equipping them with some training or tools that can help instill confidence and competence in effectively managing conflict and having difficult conversations with coworkers. The second approach would be for a manager to meet with each person involved individually, and help them work through their issues in private meetings, sort of like coach sessions. From there, the third approach may be for the supervisor to facilitate a solution-focused conversation between the individuals in conflict. The manager would have to feel pretty confident in their own skills to get the parties to a mutually agreeable outcome. And finally the fourth approach, if management or HR are unable to resolve this conflict on their own, then of course they can bring in an independent workplace mediator to facilitate a peace process between the parties.
