What is Escapism? Is Escapism just a fancy term for Avoidance or Procrastination? How is the Metaverse going to affect escapism? Well, Escapism is a necessity if you want to maintain sanity. Life can be very annoying at times, and you will also face many low-points. Hence, to help soothe and relax your mind, you need an escape. Now, all escapes are not created the same. There are good forms such as movies, books, video games, sports, exercise, socializing, etc. And there are bad forms such as drugs, alcohol, overeating, and gambling. Thus, we need to make sure we avoid the negative forms of escape at all costs. However, that doesn't mean we should all just sit around and watch tv all day or play video games all day. No, an escape should only be for a short stint of time to relax your mind. It should not keep you from overcoming life's challenges and obstacles because that is just avoidance. That is where the Metaverse gets a lot of controversy because the Metaverse promotes escape from reality for prolonged periods of time.
