It is a part of the Gujarati cuisine. It is often made with a bottle gourd, rice, lentils and lots of other vegetables like fenugreek leaves and carrots. It is spiced with fresh ginger and green chilies, modulate with mustard seeds, sesame seeds, and dried red chilies.
