You'll move past it quickly but it's a good premium and a decent SL grinder. It's a turn fighter and stupid easy to do well in at this BR. • Ki-61-lb - Buy* - Buy again if you're new to the tech tree and you want to progress thru the early tech tree quickly for USA. It's a little slow but still turns well and is a nice mix of energy fighter and turn fighter. I enjoy it because I enjoy Ki-61s. 50cals with Japanese belts are very powerful. Enjoyable but... a little slow so that can be frustrating. Fits right in with the rest of US for climbing but can turn better than most. • Rank 3 - • A6M2 - Buy* - Buy if you like the turn fight gameplay. Slow and requires folks to be baited into fights, will get stomped on by people that know what they're doing. Low velocity guns that take some getting used to. Not my style but I can recognize that it would be an efficient grinder thru Rank 4 • Bf-109 F-4 - Skip - I'm not a fan, I've got a whole video on it. Your shoulders will be sore trying to carry with this plane. Buy if you're good already. US teams just kinda suck at this BR • XP-50 - Buy - While it has it's weaknesses played correctly this is a definite buy. Air spawn. 20mm cannon in the nose. 50s to back it up. Everyone will hate you and you'll catch a lot of heat, but that's because this is a great plane. Energy and stall fight with it and you'll be damn near unkillable. Requires a bit of patience. Still super strong at the BR. • BTD-1 - Skip - Bomber with not enough to kill a base. In a dogfight you get one turn and then you're dead. Decent in a head on because of cannons. Decent in Ground RB but there are way better options and lower BR. Pros don't outweigh the cons. Skip • XA-38 - Buy - Fantastically fun in Ground RB. Good bombs and then a Sherman gun in the nose. Fast. Decent defensive guns because you're so fast they will be behind you. Even has uptier potential. Solid Buy • P-51D-10 - Skip tho it will probably not be for sale. Situationally good. Suffers like all -D P-51s. Skip generally. • P-38K - Skip tho it will probably not be for sale. Ok-ish Ju288 killer. Good in a downtier. No secondary weapons for Ground RB. Skip. • P-47M - Buy - Fantastically fun in Ground RB. Good bombs and also rockets and also 8 50 cals. Good dogfighters while fast. Iffy for Air RB because of the Ju288 spam but situationally fun. This is a buy for Ground RB. Possible skip for Air RB • Honorable mention - It's not on sale but the F2G-1 is about $30 on the gaijin market as of the creation of this video. Would be a good option to pick up to stick in that BR gap between the XP-50 and jets as a decent Ju288 hunter and ground RB option. • AV-8A - Skip - Before the maps got big I would have said 'buy' as you could get to the battlefield fast and above everyone else. Aim-9Gs aren't what they used to be and you only get 2. Decent base bomber killer. Could also be used to just take bombs and kill a base. But the gameplay is not compelling enough for me to recommend. There are better options in the space. • F-5C - Buy and Buy now - jet combat with training wheels while also having a super high skill cap. The F-5C gets spammed to death for good reason. It is a very very solid performer and if flown right - a deadly deadly opponent. Only 2 Aim-9Es but the guns are very usable and the air frame is super forgiving. Buy buy buy. • Final verdict. • F-5C if you want to get to jets ASAP. Ki-43-II if you want to learn the game more before you take the deep end plunge. XP-50 for a nice mid-rank grinder until you get into early jets. Then make the jump the F-5C. This is the advice I'd give a new player looking to get thru the USA air tree quickly.
