String of Pearls Plant Pattern • This is a beginner friendly pattern and completely no sew! Do read through each section of the pattern before beginning that part of the project to make sure nothing is missed. • Stitches to know • Slip knot • Chain/ch • Slip stitch/slst • Single crochet/ sc • Bobble Stitch* • Magic ring/ mr • Increase/inc • Back loop only/blo • *For this pattern a bobble stitch is going to consist of 4 incomplete double crochets joined together. The breakdown is as follows: (yarn over, go into the space, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through the first two loops on your hook) repeated 4 times, when you have 5 loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through all 5 loops, chain 1. Please see the video tutorial if you need further explanation. • Materials list • Scissors • Polyfil • 3.5 mm crochet hook • 3.75 mm crochet hook • Stitch marker • Darning needle • 3 colors of size 4 yarn. Brown for the soil, your choice of pot color, and green for the plant. • Creating the vines of pearl • Use the 3.5 mm hook for this section • Begin with a slip knot • (Chain between 6-12 chains • In the second chain from the hook, place a bobble stitch. Slip stitch into the next chain after the bobble stitch) repeat () until you have the desired length for your vine. When you finish your last pearl, still do the slips stitch in the chain after it and then finish off. Weave in the end at the bottom of your vine into the last pearl you made • Repeat this process until you have your desired amount of vines. I prefer two vines between each section of the hanging ropes minimum so I make 8 minimum. • I also avoid making the vines all the same length because it looks more realistic. • Creating the Dirt • Use the 3.75 mm hook for this section • R1: sc 6 into a mr = 6 • R2: inc x 6 = 12 • R3: (sc, inc) x 6 = 18 • R4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 = 24 • R5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 = 30 • R6 : (4 sc, inc) x6 = 36 • Slip stitch into the first stitch of r6 and finish off. Weave in both of your ends. • Creating the Pot • Use the 3.75 mm hook for this section • R1: sc 6 into a mr = 6 • R2: inc x 6 = 12 • R3: (sc, inc) x 6 = 18 • R4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 = 24 • R5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 = 30 • R6 : (4 sc, inc) x6 = 36 • R7: in the blo sc x 36 = 36 • R8-12: sc around = 36 • R13: sc around, through both the loops of the previous round stitches, as well as both the loops of the dirt with the dirt being on the inside of the pot. Please see video tutorial for example. • R14: sc around = 36 • If you do not want your plant to be hanging, slip stitch into the first stitch of the round and finish off. Weave in your end. • If you do want your string of pearls as a hanging plant, do not finish off and continue directly to the next section of the pattern. • Optional Creating the Ties • At the end of the last round, slip stitch into the first stitch of the last round. Chain the length of the tie you desire. For most cars around 50-60 is appropriate. Finish off, you do not need to weave in this end if you do not want to. • Reattach your yarn using a slip knot with 9 stitches between each tie. Weave in the ends that are attached to the pot and repeat the same amount of chains as the first tie. • If you choose to not weave in your ends at the end of your chain, make sure to trim them all to the same length. • You have now completed your plant! • Intro 0:00 • Vine 0:31 • Soil 4:32 • Pot 9:58 • Ties 15:18
