He had asked for a short work as a parting gift from him to his band, Enfield Citadel. Timothy Dudley-Smith’s, Lord, for the Years is the core of this work. The title is taken from the inspirational final verse: • Lord for ourselves; in living power remake us – • Self on the cross and Christ upon the throne, • Past put behind us, for the future take us: • Lord of our lives, to live for Christ alone. • The premiere performance was given by Enfield Citadel Band at their annual prequel concert to the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain in 2016.
