Volkswagen has presented its Volkswagen Lamando L 2022, an exclusive product for China and that will be manufactured by the SAIC Volkswagen joint venture. • The model in question is a Sedan related to the Volkswagen Jetta, which has been on sale in the Chinese market since 2014, and which is now evolving thanks to a more attractive design and more equipment, among other things. • We are talking about a car that measures 4.78 meters long, 1.83 meters wide and 1.47 meters high, making it noticeably larger than the conventional Lamando and has a longer wheelbase of 2.73 meters. Therefore, it is identical to a Passat, although smaller than a Volkswagen Arteon. • On an aesthetic level, it stands out for lines that are reminiscent of those of the Arteon itself, wheels up to 18 inches and LED headlights that resemble those of the ID electric family. Both at the front and at the rear, the light groups are visually linked by LED moldings. The pilots, by the way, remind us a lot of those of the Peugeot 508. • While the normal Lamando is based on the Volkswagen Group's MQ B platform, this long-wheelbase (L) variant uses an improved version of the MQB Evo, which is used by latest-generation models such as the Volkswagen Golf, the Skoda Octavia or the SEAT León, for example. • Under the hood of the Lamando L we find a 1.4 TSI block with 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, associated with a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds, although in the future a more powerful version will also be offered, based on the Volkswagen 2.0 TSI. • In the passenger compartment, the kinship with the Golf is immediately noticeable, since the general design is very similar to that of the latest generation of the compact, although the air diffusers and some other details are slightly different. • As for equipment, the Lamando L includes a Beats sound system, panoramic glass roof, Head-Up Display or adaptive cruise control, among other things.
