World War One - taxis of the Marne - cabs and private cars take soldiers to the front, France. • • Shot of cars driving down a Paris street. Most of the men in cars are not in uniform, but some are visibly carrying rifles. They wave to the cameraman to the civilians standing on the pavement to watch. • • American cataloguer's note: General Gallini, Military Governor of Paris, had no way to get reserves from the city out to the front so he requisitioned taxicabs and private cars to carry the 80000 men to strengthen the army of General Manoury.
