Hans Landa isn't just an intimidating detective. He is an actor and an enigma. • Ever since the release of Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds in 2009, people have been adding Colonel Hans Landa to their list of the most iconic movie villains of all time - I don't blame them. As jaded as the list may seem, villain aside, you have to admit Landa is one heck of a character. • But why? We know he has his ways with words, and we know he is a great detective, a master manipulator, a narcissistic opportunist, but a weirdly comedic loser at certain points. Yet, we do not really 'know' what he stands for; yes, you would be right to say he stands for himself - a self-absorbed prick who will do anything for his own benefits. But doesn't that make him more unpredictable? Or perhaps even contradictory? • Looking at my favourite scene from the film, we'll go into how the film describes Hans Landa's character, and how noticing those details may change the viewing experience altogether. • Enjoy. • And of course, get a whole month of MUBI for free at http://mubi.com/spikimamovies - this is where I discover many of my favourite films, as well as rewatch films I love. • /// • Music download: http://spikima.wixsite.com/spikima • Patreon:   / spikima   • Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/spikima • Instagram: @ spikima • Merch: https://www.teepublic.com/stores/spik... • Merch 2: https://www.bonfire.com/store/spikima/ • Your support helps with keeping the channel running. • Love. • /// • Timestamp • 0:00 The Scene (Fillings) • 1:16 The Secret (Icing) • 2:22 A.
