Herceptin amp Paclitaxel Taxol • My Cancer Journey

Round one Herceptin and Paclitaxel and how I felt getting through it. Remember, everyone is different and what effects me may not effect you the same. Also, pleeeease don’t message me or comment about holistic treatments or how chemo is gonna kill me etc etc. I made the choice to put my trust in my doctors 😀 • My first round of chemo was on May 17, 2019. My first four rounds (out of eight total) will be AC chemo, so I am receiving Adriamycin “Red Devil” (Doxorubicin) and Cytoxan (Cyclophosphamide). • As of July 12 I have started the second part of my treatment. I have four rounds of Paclitaxel (Taxol), dome every two weeks and eight rounds of Herceptin, done every week (and then every three weeks for a year from the start date). My premed is dexamethasone (steroid) taken 12 and 6 hours prior to chemo, five 4mg pills each time. • I get Neulasta through one shot, 24-48 hours after chemo that I administer myself. For sleep and anxiety I take Ativan, sparingly. For pain I take Tylenol 3 and Gabapentin. • Diagnosis: Locally Advanced Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in left breast with node involvement (possibly up to four nodes but won’t be confirmed until after removal surgery) HER+ | ER/PR- • Date of Diagnosis: May 1, 2019 • Age at diagnosis: 34 • Genetic testing: TBD • Chemotherapies: Adriamycin, Cytoxan, Taxol, and Herceptin • Schedule of treatment: eight rounds of Chemotherapy done every two weeks, broken into four rounds of two, lumpectomy if chemo is effective (mastectomy if not) with a complete axillary dissection of lymph nodes (ALND) on the left side, 25-35 sessions of radiation, and Herceptin injections every three weeks for one year • If you have any questions please ask me in the comments section below. • Instagram: tiahansman • I am documenting my journey on my personal Facebook, feel free to follow me there as all the cancer related posts are public.
