There are 3 ways to install WordPress: First way is to install it on a live server. The good thing about this is that you can see your changes live on the web. For a beginner I would avoid this way because it takes some time to update your files to be shown online, plus, this is the hardest, most advanced way in the technical aspect, and require you to have paid hosting. I recommend this if you already have an organized files, themes and website and you just need to publish it and go live. The second way is little easier and provides you with a risk-free environment, and many beginners, as well as experts, use this for learning and testing purposes. This way you can test themes, plugins and even new releases of WordPress without breaking your live site. But it requires from you to install WAMP LAMP OR MAMP. I will cover those localhost environments in my other tutorials, so lets stick for now with the easiest option, which is Instant Wordpress. With instant WordPress, you can easily test and make or break our website. No worries, just reinstall it and start over. Nothing can be broken here. More importantly is that you can also pack up your website put it in a zip file and carry it around on a USB stick and install it on another computer or save it for a backup. So, without further glorification, lets quickly install WordPress on our desktop and give it a test drive. The first step is to download Instant wordpress. just google instant WordPress. Go to download page here. Also, you have download link in the description. click download instant wordpress and save it to your desktop. After the download finishes just click and begin your installation. It will ask you where you want to install it, just choose desktop for now, or any other folder you like. After few moments It will extract all the files in one folder. just click close. Check your desktop and you will find your Instant WordPress folder. Go inside and you will see a bunch of files here. Just run Instant Wordpress. exe and you will see this menu. You can copy this URL to see your website in the browser. Let's see this. Nice, you can see your website. But, we want to access dashboard so we can, for example, change a theme, install plugin and so on.Go back to your menu and click WordPress admin, and whoops, it opened in internet explorer. We don't want that, we want to open dashboard in Mozilla, or in my case, in google chrome. To change those default browser settings, close your menu, Open instant WordPress folder and open iwpserver folder and open pms_config with your notepad, I'm using notepad ++, if you like it I have a link in the description so you can download it, it's free and awesome. OK, nice, we are moving in. Just open the file and leave it open. now find the location where you install your browser. I will just right click chrome icon and choose open file location. In address bar just right click and copy address as text and go to your notepad and find the browserPath section and paste it here, replacing the current text. • add one slash and add a name of your browser exe file, which in my case is chrome.exe. Be sure that you save this and now open instant WordPress again, and voila it is now in chrome. This is super nice. Click WordPress admin and use admin for username and password for password. Don't worry only you have access to your site because it's on your desktop and not on the live server. Click log in and you will see standard WordPress dashboard interface. You are now ready to make your next awesome website. Don't be afraid to break it to learn it from inside out.
