TLDR : Short-term capital gains are taxed at a 15% rate, while long-term capital gains may be subject to a 10% tax if they exceed Rs. 1 lakh, and indexation benefits are no longer applicable for such gains. • If equity investments listed on a stock exchange are sold within 12 months of purchase, the seller may incur a short-term capital gain (STCG) or a short-term capital loss (STCL). Short-term capital gains are taxable at a flat rate of 15%. • On the other hand, if equity investments listed on a stock exchange are sold after 12 months of purchase, the seller may make a long-term capital gain (LTCG) or incur a long-term capital loss (LTCL). Before the introduction of Budget 2018, long-term capital gains from equity investments were tax-exempt. However, after the Budget of 2018, long-term capital gains exceeding Rs. 1 lakh are subject to a 10% tax (plus applicable cess), and the benefit of indexation is no longer available for such gains. • Book 1-1 video call : https://topmate.io/finance_boosan • Instagram : / finance.boosan • Join Learner's Community : / @finance.boosan • Other useful links : https://beacons.ai/boosan • _______________________________________________ • New Account opening links for leading brokers in India : • Paytm Money : https://paytmmoney.onelink.me/9L59/of... • Groww : https://bit.ly/growwNew • m.Stock : https://bit.ly/mstockNew • Zerodha : https://bit.ly/newZerodhaD • ^ leading brokers in India if you're interested in opening a new broker account. • (above are my affiliate links) • _______________________________________________ • #financeBoosan #usefulinformationBoosan • Stock Market, Mutual Funds, Investments, Personal Finance, Make Money Online
