There are three basic states of matter - solid, liquid and gas. This video tutorial explains how the particles move in each state. • Subscribe for more physics tutorials: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-Physics-Ninja • The particles in solids vibrate about a fixed position, so they have a regular pattern. They are also close together and give the solid a fixed shape and volume. • In a liquid, the particles slide around each other in a random arrangement. They are still quite close together, which means that it is quite difficult to compress a liquid. • A liquid will change shape to fit the container. • A gas has particles which fly around quickly in straight lines in random directions. There are hardly any forces (bonds) between the particles, but they do exert a force on the container. • The volume of a gas will change to fill the container. • Check out more GCSE thermal physics tutorials at https://gcsephysicsninja.com/lessons/...
