This video goes over an explanation of the metric unit for force which is the newton. The newton is the derived unit in the metric system for force. A force is a push or a pull. One newton is equal to the force that would give a one kilogram mass an acceleration of one meter per second squared. A 100 gram mass exerts a gravitational force of one newton. The newton is named after Sir Isaac Newton who lived from 1642 until 1727. • Subsequent videos will cover the joule and the watt. The joule is the metric unit for work and energy. Work is done on an object or energy is transferred to an object when a force is applied to it through a distance. The watt is the metric unit for power.
