Stripping floors of old finish can be a difficult task. It can be made easier and safer by following the basic steps outlined in this video. • Gather all supplies. A simple checklist for these items can be found at multi-clean dot com • Restrict access to the area by posting wet floor signs and using caution tape. • Put on personal protective equipment. Avoid getting stripper solution on skin or on clothing. • • Prepare stripping solutions in a mop bucket by mixing the recommended amount of stripper with cold water. • Using a cotton string mop, generously apply approximately one gallon of stripper solution to a 150 square foot area. Avoid splashing stripper solution onto baseboards, carpet, or other areas. • Wait a minimum of five minutes. Then, begin agitating along walls and edges with a hand scrubbing tool. • Now, begin agitating the main areas with a low speed floor machine equipped with a stripping pad. Propane stripping machines or automatic scrubbers equipped with stripping pads can also be used. • Pick up stripping solution using a wet dry vacuum. An auto scrubber can also be used for this purpose. • Be sure all floor finish is removed. If not, repeat the stripping process until all floor finish is removed. • • Finally, double rinse the floor using a neutral cleaner solution or recommended neutralizer. A mop bucket with a clean cotton mop may be used, apply rinse solution generously, and then use a wet dry vacuum to pick up • • Alternatively, an automatic scrubber can be used to rinse the floor.
