Some wonderful footage showing the majestic free-living Exmoor ponies of Exmoor National Park and explaining how the breeding herds are managed. You'll see the ponies streaming across the River Barle on Withypool Common, cascading down to Lancombe Crossing on Brendon Common and galloping across the moor. • Exmoor ponies are an endangered breed and people are working hard to safeguard their future. The moorland herds of Exmoor National Park are especially critical as this is their indigenous home - and this is where they retain their True Moorland Type. • This short film features Exmoor ponies from Withypoole Herd 23, owned by the Milton family, and Tippbarlake Herd 387, owned by the Floyd family. • The Exmoor Pony Project helps wild-born foals leaving the moors each autumn to find good opportunities. And we work with farmers, breeders, owners and enthusiasts to offer help and support, encourage compassionate handling of the ponies, campaign for welfare improvements - and promote this amazing, ancient native breed. • Enjoy these lovely ponies and if you'd like to find out more about our work, please visit www.WildPonyWhispering.co.uk. Exmoor Pony Project co-founder Dawn Westcott has written three best-selling equestrian books about Exmoor ponies - Wild Pony Whispering, Wild Stallion Whispering and Wild Herd Whispering. • Along with other dedicated Exmoor farmers and landowners, Dawn and her husband Nick are also co-founders of the Moorland Exmoor Pony Breeders Group (MEPBG). More info and contact details for herd owners working together for Exmoor ponies can be found at www.MEPBG.co.uk. • MEPBG Breeder's Directory: http://www.mepbg.co.uk/about-MEPBG-di... • Thanks to Stefanie Schmidt and Millie Ker for help with footage and photos. • Music thanks to www.bensound.com
