The Pont du Gard is an ancient Roman aqueduct bridge located in southern France. • It was built in the 1st century AD during the Roman Empire to carry water over 50 km to the city of Nimes. • The Pont du Gard is the highest of all Roman aqueduct bridges, standing 49 m high. • It has three tiers of arches, with the bottom tier having 6 arches, the middle tier having 11 arches, and the top tier having 35 arches. • The Pont du Gard is made entirely of soft yellow limestone blocks without any mortar binding them together. • It is considered an engineering masterpiece and one of the most visited tourist sites in France, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. #romanempire #aqueduct #shorts @connectparanormal2350
