#TineaVersicolor or #Pityrsiasis Versicolor is a #fungal or yeast infection predominantly involving upper trunk. It is caused by a common commensal yeast called Malassezia furfur. It is frequently found in warm humid climates and in those who sweat heavily. It affects both men and women, and may recur in summer seasons. Clinical features of tinea versicolor are scaly oval macules on the upper trunk. The macules may be pale, pink or dark tan coloured. These scaly macules or rashes may be hypopigmented or hyperpigmented. Hypopigmentation becomes obvious when the skin is exposed to sun or tanning. diagnosis of tinea versicolor is confirmed by microscopic examination of skin scrapping which shows spghetti and meatball hyphae. • treatment of tinea versicolor include Selenium sulphide or Ketoconazole agents.
