Full Newscast - 5 suspects are arrested in a kidnapping conspiracy plot • A local race car drivers life is lost in a fatal crash near Reno. • Two attempted robbery suspects are identified • • (NCSO Kidnapping) An alleged plot to kidnap and possibly kill a man has been foiled. NCS deputies arrested 5 people who the victim says were plotting to kill him. • • (NCSO Prescription) 3 people have been arrested for allegedly attempting to fill false prescriptions and various other charges . According to the Nye County Sheriff's office press release, on Sunday, deputies responded to Smith's Food King regarding a fake prescription being dropped off. The pharmacy notified the NCSO. Deputies awaited the return of the suspect to pick up the medication. Elizabeth Campbell age 35, Gabriel Andrew 43 years old, and Candice Brewer 29 years old, all from Las Vegas, arrived back at the pharmacy. Deputies conducted an investigation and obtained consent to search their vehicle and person and discovered the suspects to be in possession of various narcotics, other fake prescriptions, hypodermic devices and methamphetamine. The parties admitted to being under influence of controlled substances. All three suspects were placed under arrest for various narcotic/sales/use. Their vehicle was impounded and approximately $2000.00 in cash was seized in relation to their criminal activity. • • (Jonathan Burch ) 23 year old Jonathan Burch passed away yesterday morning as a result from a motor vehicle accident. Jonathan is a driver of the # 78 mini stock at Pahrump valley Speedway. His father john Burch is also a race car driver. He won first place in his division modified mini stock during last year's season at Pahrump Valley Speedway. He graduated PVHS and leaves behind his mother father sisters and many friends and relatives. He was apparently visiting his uncle for the summer in Idaho. Nevada highway patrol is investigating the accident which happened near Reno, Nevada, in which it appears at this point that a blow out on a tire may have possibly caused his vehicle to lose control and overturn. His funeral services will be held this Sunday night beginning at 7:30 at Pahrump Valley Speedway. • • (One Stop Reader) The two suspects who apparently attempted to rob the one stop discount store on Pahrump Valley Boulevard Monday night have been identified. They are as follows 19 year old James Elias Strickland who is being held on $16274.00 and 19 year Alex Ramon Meza who is being held on $15637.00 Burglary, for the following charges, Conspiracy to Commit A Crime, Attempted Petty Larceny Minor in Consuming Alcohol • • (McCarren's Miracle) At the Nye County Commissioners' meeting, Sheriff Tony DeMeo tells the story of a former Nye County Sheriff. • • (Duck Pond) Since the opening of the newly reconstructed Calvada duck pond, some have noticed that the water level is low.
