README • The flying Dutchman's legend tells about a cursed captain who challenged God during a terrible storm and was doomed to travel endlessy by the seas, never able to step a foot on land except for once every seven years... Only if he will manage to fall in love with a woman which return the feelings, he will eventually be saved. The story inspired various artist throughout history and recently even film directors! • In this video I tried to put togheter clips from Pirates of the Caraibbean and the ouverture from Der Fliegende Hollander by Richard Wagner, written in the early 1834!! Even tough the two plots are very different, it's amazing to see how the the music fits with the images and enhances them! Maybe Wagner's idea was a film rather than an opera but the lack of means of his times just led him to the only thing he could do?
