MY NEW CHANNEL: • / channel • PSA Flight 182, a Boeing 727 was a flight between Sacramento and San Diego with a stopover in Los Angeles on September 25, 1978 with 135 people on board. • The Crash: • The flight between Sacramento and Los Angeles was uneventful. At 8:34am, Flight 182 departed Los Angeles bound for San Diego. 29 of the passengers were PSA employees. The weather on approach to San Diego was clear and sunny. During the approach, the 727 was notified of a small Cessna 172 plane in the airspace. On the Cessna aircraft were 2 pilots and were flying under VFR rules. At 9:00am, the PSA pilots had the Cessna in sight but shortly lost sight a few seconds after. The flight then was cleared to land at San Diego International. Shortly after the pilots deployed the landing gear, at 2,600 feet the two planes collided. The Cessna's wings and vertical stabiliser was torn off and the aircraft crashed into the suburbs killing both pilots. Meanwhile, the PSA's right wing was damaged making the jet uncontrollable and fuel tank was ripped apart causing the jet to go on fire. The PSA flight struck a house and crashed near a freeway causing seismographic readings. All people on the PSA jet also died with 7 people on the ground killed as well.
