Urdu Poetry of Saghar Siddiqui • Ghazal: Jane Kis Jurm Ki Pai Hai Saza Yaad Nahin • Recitation: Raheel Farooq • زندگی جبرِ مسلسل کی طرح کاٹی ہے • جانے کس جرم کی پائی ہے سزا یاد نہیں • ساغرؔ صدیقی کی مشہور غزل - اردو شاعری • _____ • SAGHAR SIDDIQUI • Saghar Siddiqui, the Pakistani Urdu poet, born in Ambala (British India) in 1928, was a renowned saint poet who gained popularity with his slim appearance, wearing yellow silky cloth shirts and reciting beautiful ghazals in a melodious voice. He migrated to Pakistan in 1947 and settled in Lahore, where he wrote poetry for the film industry and published a literary magazine. However, his magazine was a critical success but a commercial flop, leading him to shut it down. Siddiqui fell into depression, became financially ruined and addicted to drugs, and chose to stay in cheap hotels, rather than settle into a house given by the government to refugees. He lived on the streets of Lahore, where he held mushairas on the footpaths, in candlelight, and continued to write poems until his death. Siddiqui was found dead on a street corner of Lahore at age 46, and his dog also died a year later, reportedly at the same spot. Despite his tragic life, his dhamaal song 'Laal Mori Pat Rakhio Bhala Jhoole Laalan De' and ghazal 'Hei Dua Yaad Magar Harf-e-Dua Yaad Nahin' are still popular today. • ———————————— • BEHIND THE SCENES • ———————————— • SOFTWARE: • 1.
