World Music Day Premiere: Timezones - A Dance Between Two Worlds • Created during Soumik’s year-long artist residency with Philharmonia orchestra, “Timezones” is part of his upcoming album: Borderlands. This track is a pulsating exploration of life split between two countries, two cultures, two timezones. • Indian music breathes with the natural world,” says Soumik. Each raga has its time, its place. But in my own world, I have no continuous environment. My heart and my body, always in separate places. Always cutting a bit too brown to be British, or too British to be Bengali. Yet, through music, I can bridge the gap, merge languages and contexts; combine dawn and dusk, London and Kolkata. Because migration, I've learned, is not a linear journey from A to B. It's a dance between two worlds, a constant negotiation of identity.” • Timezones pulsates with this dance. Night raga Darbari intertwines with morning raga Jaunpuri, creating a soundscape that reflects the beauty and complexity of displacement. It's an invitation to celebrate the human spirit's ability to find home, even when it's scattered across the globe. • Sarod Composition: Soumik Datta • Tabla Udu: Gurdain Singh Rayatt • Double Bass: Nina Harries • Part of Borderlands (coming soon). • #WorldMusicDay • #FeteDeLaMusique • #MusicUnites • #GlobalGrooves • #MusicIsLife • #CelebrateMusic • #SoumikMusic • #Soumik • #Timezones • #BorderlandsAlbum • #PhilharmoniaOrchestra • #MigrationStory • #Bicultural • #CulturalFusion • #RagaRemix • #DisplacedHarmony • #HomeIsEverywhere • #NewMusicFriday • #WorldMusicLover • #MusicDiscovery • #SupportIndependentMusic • #WhatAreYouListeningTo • #MusicianLife
